Reading Train at SRS
A journey of 100 books – nurturing lifelong readers since 1998
Programme Overview
Launched in 1998 and now relaunched with digital resources, the Reading Train is the School of Research Science’s signature literacy initiative. Pupils from Year 1 to Year 12 progress through a five‑passport challenge, reading 100 books and gaining access to a library of over 500,000 titles. More than 20,000 pupils across the Arab world have already climbed aboard.

By reading widely, summarising texts, and presenting their ideas, learners develop:

Each April, schools nominate the top five pupils from each stage for the finals. Pupils are assessed on language fluency, comprehension, book choice and cultural knowledge; winners are honoured at a May celebration.
